Reflection of priest celibacy in contemporary theology and culture Abstract The Bachelor's thesis describes the reflection of priest celibacy in contemporary theology and culture. This topic is part of a wider discussion about human sexuality in theology and history. A part of the thesis includes a historical review which is connected to the current systematic reflection. The identity of priests and the way of speaking about celibacy and priesthood in present theology is very different, the text examines the experience of sexual abuse in the church. The thesis takes notice of the different approaches and possible consequences of them, e.g. the image of women in texts that discuss the celibate way of life. It also observes the possibility of a better connection to the present culture and social sciences. Vliv spirituality Terezie od Ježíše v životě a díle Marie Dominiky Mazzarellové Abstract This thesis follows the previous bachelor study (The influence of Theresa of Jesus's spirituality on the spiritual formation of S. Mary D. Mazzarello) and it deals with the influence of S. Theresa of Jesus's work in the next period of the life of S. Mary D. Mazzarello - the period when she was the general superior of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Institute. The main sources are taken from her correspondence, from the Theresa of Jesus's documents and papers and from the salesian spirituality literature.
Activity of the Congregation of Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo in České Budějovice. The lifestory of a black and white flower of the city

The dissertation deals with the historical activities of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo in České Budějovice between the years 1850 - 1956. The thesis is especially based on the study of archival materials. Each chapter comprehensively describes the history of the three branches where the religious Sisters performed their activities. The branches are listed in chronological order of when they were established in the city. A public hospital is mentioned first, followed by an institutional complex of orphanages and schools at the former Vienna gate, and the group is concluded with an asylum for elderly people in need established in 1888. Particular attention is paid to the circumstances concerning the establishment of each branch, its background, ordinary and extraordinary days that were mostly mentioned in local chronicles; and two local superiors who had a major impact on the development and character of the community are also mentioned in the dissertation. Besides the observation of the beginnings and subsequent unprecedented development of community activities within the city frame, the text also includes an independent final chapter focused on events associated with the definitive end after the year 1948. Religious Life in Czechoslovak Prisons in the Period of the Communist Regime

This thesis deals with Czechoslovak penal system between the years 1948 - 1989 from the view of religion. It investigates the developement of spiritual service in prison, follows its decline after February 1948 and describes in which way the prisoners tried to find a solution to the prohibiton to practice religion in prisons. Further it focuses on religious persecution in communist Czechoslovakia, presents reasons for imprisonment of the members of individual confessions and shows how their faith reflected in everyday life in prison. The author makes a reference to the concentration of priests in closed departements, explains its reason and tries to depict everyday life of these separated communities. He describes in details how the convicted practiced the acts of their religion and he deals with the differences of individual confessions. The work speculates over the sense of imprisonment of hundreds of priests, friars and laymen from some of the Churches in communist Czechoslovakia. It thinks about the power of faith and conviction exposed to cruel physical treatment and mental violence. It also deals with the question of colaboration, relations between members of different confession and between the convicted and warders. Correspondence of abbess Dorothy from Krumlov

The article focuses on Dorota from Krumlov and her activity in the posts of abbess of two convents – the convent of Poor Clares in Panenský Týnec and the Benedictine convent of Saint George in the Prague Castle. It describes the historical context and explains the possible transfer of abbess among the monastic communities. The largest space is dedicated to the linguistic analysis of the remaining letters of Dorota from Krumlov from the both convents – through phonology and morphology gets to the stylistic level.
